Fakanas, after his affluent discography, comes now with 'Echoes' to give his personal feel of his country. This work is a musical travelogue in nine areas of Greece . Thrace , Macedonia , Epirus , Thessaly, Sterea Ellada, Peloponnese, Aegean, Dodecanese and Crete , are illustrated with tone-colours that derive from tradition and evolve in today's sound. Tradition is merely the spark, the starting point, the area of inspiration. The final hearing is completely modern. Only some references, some crossings through sounds and rhythms remind us of the past. The structure is modern, the plot inspired, the development unpredictable. It touches the feeling; it conveys images and describes the modern occurrences, through a rich narrative writing and a powerful language.
Not all areas of Greece send out the same feel to Fakanas. The particular colour of each place is rendered in 'Echoes' through alternate musical sensations, fluctuated musical densities and gravities. Extravert and introvert tracks, pieces that function as modern choruses but also as lyrical wanderings, convey the geographical and spiritual multiformity of the sensations and emotions that each area of Greece evokes.
We have to refer to the very significant musical figures that perform in 'Echoes'. The world-known American trumpeter Wallace Roney holds one of the leading roles in this work, next to the vibraphonist of 'Manhattan Vibes', Christos Rafalides. And the list of exceptional musicians is endless.
