In the late 70's Ahuva was in her prime. She released many albums, held 4-5 shows every night, and was one of the highly paid performers in Israel.
In 1982, after a line of family tragedies, Ahuva announced that she's quitting the music industry. Afterwards, she started teaching music, and returned to work in the restaurant. She held shows only on special occasions, volunteering in front of abused women, children etc. Many artists looked at Ahuva as their mentor, did cover versions to her songs.
In 1990, Ahuva moved to the United States, got married and lived there for few years. She returned to Israel after they separated.
In 1993 she started recording again. In 1999 her album "Tsiltsouley Paanonim" (Bell Rings) was released, and for the first time since 1982, she started performing. A sort while afterwards, she had discovered that she has cancer in the vocal strings, and was forced to have them removed.
Today Ahuva plays a lot but mostly writes songs. She continues to influence and move many fans and artists. She is one of the best ethnic composers and the most desirable songwriter ever in Israel. Her vocal strings are starting to recover, so there is a possibility that she will return to sing a year from now.
Ahuva Ozeri features in the album MOSAIC (LM027) of Maria Farantouri.
