Her collaboration with the Third Program of the Greek National Radio [1978] occurred at the moment of her maturity, giving her the recognition she deserves.
She has participated in a number of radio programs in Greece and abroad, has given concerts in France, Italy, Sweden, Turkey and Germany. Numerous world class festivals in Europe.
Her appearances in internationally acclaimed festivals like the "PROMENOS" of the Dutch Radio [1979,1980], the Florence Festival "MUSICA DEI POPOLI" (1980), the Festival " RECONTRES MUSICALES MEDITERANEE" in the South of France (1981).She also participate in three festivals for the female group MAMAS.
The reviews are enthusiastic and because of these, she received the first award with the Greek delegation in 1979 for the 30th International Convention of the Federation "JEUNESSES MUSICALES" at Zagreb, Yugoslavia, where 36 countries participated.
The purity and clarity of her voice is a sign that in Greece we can still find self taught folk singers, that are capable of bearing within the songs of the rich Greek tradition.

Yiota Vei was born at Platistomo, a province of Lamia, and lives in Athens from the age of seventeen. She was initiated to Greek traditional singing from her grandmother. For a number of years before her public appearances, she collected traditional songs from all over Greece. Many of these, unique and unreleased have been entrusted to her by ethnomusicologists. This treasure [those total more than 600 songs] has been preserved from the mundane thanks to her memory and her unique technique.
